About Daichi Hoang

My name is Daichi Hoang, I'm 29 and I live in Sydney Australia. I run a small search engine marketing company with a handful of loyal clients and in my spare time I play soccer, basketball, go on photography trips or ride my motorbike!

My experience with the web goes back a long way. I was introduced to HTML in the summer of 1997 as a 16 year old when I applied to and was lucky enough to be selected to attend a computer science summer school run by Sydney University, sponsored by Unisys. Back then pages were ugly, really ugly. But somehow I worked out how to move images to the right of the page and that was a pretty cool thing to be able to do :)

I clearly remember my first web page that I made at this summer school - it was about my basketball hero Michael Jordan. I wish I still had a copy of it, I remember it had a black background with bright green text - something I would not recommend now!

From here my interest in web grew and I built a few more pages just for fun. It wasn't until 2002 when finally with high speed Internet I had the time and bandwidth to seriously look into building sites for the web.

My first site for the web was based on a tutorial that I created on how to register a domain name. I'd discovered an affiliate network called Commission Junction (now huge, back then they were starting out) and was intrigued by the prospect of earning money online. I looked around at the advertisers and thought a domain name registrar would be good to try because I knew I could write a guide about buying a domain name. I picked the Dotster affiliate program and registered a domain name myself and put up the guide. I honestly don't remember doing any promotion for the site, maybe I mentioned it in a few forums but the time when I logged into my CJ account and saw some money in there..... I will never forget that! A whole $2 or something that I got for someone that registered a domain name after coming to my website and reading my guide.

From there I started building more sites, and learnt a lot in the process. Mind you not every site was successful, and some didn't get anywhere. On a few occasions I even thought I might be able to retire but I turned out to be wrong. But it's all part of the learning process and I wanted to share this with you to show you I'm real. Isn't it nice to hear that I didn't make $5000 in 1 month following a secret method? If these methods were sustainable then they wouldn't be sold for a few hundred dollars. It's too valuable to sell.

For the last decade I've been a web designer, a programmer, and now an online marketing / search engine optimization consultant. With skills in key areas that bring together a website, I was able to start my own business a few years ago and help clients take their businesses online.

These days for me personally, I own several websites that earn me a small online income. With all the experience I've had, all the ups and downs, I've fine tuned an approach for building websites that are a great asset to the web and can earn a bit of money too. Notice the order in which I placed these items! I said build websites that are a great asset to the web first, and then they will earn an income. It's my belief that if you build a quality website that actually helps people, then you will be rewarded in due time. I'm not interested in teaching or associating with people that want to make quick dirty money.

So from small beginnings of a $2 Dotster commission I'm here today to present you with my course and tutoring on how you too can get started in building websites and earning an online income. I intentionally stayed away from the typical sales pitches because the types of people I'd like to teach are individuals with patience and desire to succeed.
